I was lucky enough to take a 3-week holiday with my family this June/July.  I’m always asked what was the best part of the trip… and the answer always surprises them.

This holiday wasn’t something we decided a few months ago.  Nope.  We planned this a year in advance.  My wife really wanted to go to Iceland.  With our two young kids coming along with us, we felt Iceland was a great country to visit, benign and safe.

So, what was the best part?

Being with my family 24 hours a day for 3 weeks.  That was the best part was for me.  There was no work to interrupt the days of spending time together as a family.  It allowed for continued and deeper bonding with my kids as well as with my wife.

Sure, the sights of waterfalls, volcano craters, glaciers, sheep on the highway, ferry trips to islands and thermal hot pools were highlights, too.  However, it is always good not to lose sight of what really counts, your relationship with family and friends.

There’s nothing like a road trip or holiday to really get to know someone.

Here is one of my favourite photos of the trip.  We weren’t flying jets, just going on a snowmobile tour on a glacier, but they do kind of look like Maverick and Goose (from the movie Top Gun).

On a final note, I am happy to be back in the office at South Calgary Family Chiropractic.

After 3 weeks, I was definitely due to see my chiropractor for an adjustment and I’m happy to say that was one of the first things I did when I got back.

Are you due?
