You Know You

Sometimes we need to be reminded that we know who we are.  So we get that reality check.  Yes I’m this person.  Is it who you want to be?

For the purpose of this post, we are going to use the definition of who we are by this:

Definition

You are what you repeatedly do every day.

Are your habits bringing you closer towards the life you want?

Or are you stuck in a pattern that has kept you from getting what you want in life?

Are you eating an overweight person’s diet, but want to be thin?

Are you wanting less stress, but keep overloading your life with events and deadlines?

Are you reminiscing and wanting to be in the shape you use to be, but continue sitting on the couch thinking about it?

Do you want to be one of those morning people that get a lot of stuff done in the morning, but are staying up late?

Do you want to be healthy, but are continually sick, not giving the body what it needs – good nutrition, stress management, exercise and rest?

Align your ACTIONS with your wants

Again, align your actions with your wants.  The results won’t be instantaneous, but it shouldn’t take too long to see results.

5 Tips To Help You Keep On Track

  1. Keep a journal.  Writing goals down has proven to be effective for attaining goals.  I’m not sure why it works, but it works for me.  It works for many others.  Write your goals down!  The people who are succeeding, do!
  2. Form an Accountability Group.  Find some people with common goals and join forces to keep each other on track.  Call each other out when actions deviate from the plan that you set up.  If you are going to exercise class on Tuesdays, show up.
  3. Don’t let excuses become bigger than you are.  You are FIRST!  Look after yourself.  You will have better impact when you are ‘strong’ and helping verse being ‘weak’ and helping.
  4. Get into the routine!  What routine is that?  Make one up.  The body works better being in a routine.  Studies have shown kids do better when the routine is consistent.  And, it is true, you do better in a routine.  When the weekend comes, get up at the same time you get up during the week.  You’ll find Monday’s are easier when you just keep the routine the same.

Hey, I’m human too.  Sometimes these tips are put at the wayside, but sticking with them will help in the long run to where you want to go.

Write your goals down.  Write your thoughts down.  What are your struggles?   What are you doing well with?  Put it all down.

Form a group or join a group.  Have each other encourage one another to keep on their quest to whatever their goal may be.

Don’t let excuses get in the way.  Excuses are the external forces that stops our body or journey in motion.  An object a rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by an external force.  An object in motion will continue in motion unless a force (EXCUSE) is acted upon it.
